Hoff – 2014
First off, sorry for the lack of blogging since Christmas, As this is probably my last year at school, i’ve been busy with studying for exams but now they’re done 😀
So, I’ve been back to the Zillertal valley twice this year for 2 weeks, but this time to ride the Mayrhofen Penken Park. The park is insane, definately my new favourite European snowpark, with a pro line of 3 60-80 foot kickers, a bunch of rails and the fastest park lap known to man! My first week out there in February went sick, I ended up learning a bunch of new tricks on both the rails and the kickers, and for the first time in ages was able to get down a slopestyle run involving a double 1080, which i’m stoked about!Â
The whole week I had been thinking about the switch double 900 and warming up for it, then on my final bluebird day skiing I decided to try it. First attempt I took it to switch double 720 to my face, and second attempt I took it to under rotated 1080 to me back/head, and seriously tweaked my back. After watching back my attempts that night(which you can see on my facebook), I realised I was super close to getting it so planned to do it the next time I was out there in March.
The week in March with the Home nations park and pipe academy was just as sick if not better than the first week, I got my double 10’s on lock in a slopestyle run with both way spins and learnt some switch 10’s. The final day I built up the courage to try the switch double once more and stomped it to my feet at 9! Stoked!! Although didn’t get any footage of it!
All in all my 2013/14 season was a short one with exams involved but also an insane one with a lot of progression, scottish skiing and an exciting British freeskiing project on the way, watch this space!
Already starting to plan my 2014/15 season, and with school out the way it’s looking big!
