Harris Booth – Scottish Freeskier

Scottish Freeskier travelling Europe competing and training

Hoff – 2014

First off, sorry for the lack of blogging since Christmas, As this is probably my last year at school, i’ve been busy with studying for exams but now they’re done 😀

So, I’ve been back to the Zillertal valley twice this year for 2 weeks, but this time to ride the Mayrhofen Penken Park. The park is insane, definately my new favourite European snowpark, with a pro line of 3 60-80 foot kickers, a bunch of rails and the fastest park lap known to man! My first week out there in February went sick, I ended up learning a bunch of new tricks on both the rails and the kickers, and for the first time in ages was able to get down a slopestyle run involving a double 1080, which i’m stoked about! Image

The whole week I had been thinking about the switch double 900 and warming up for it, then on my final bluebird day skiing I decided to try it. First attempt I took it to switch double 720 to my face, and second attempt I took it to under rotated 1080 to me back/head, and seriously tweaked my back. After watching back my attempts that night(which you can see on my facebook), I realised I was super close to getting it so planned to do it the next time I was out there in March.Image

The week in March with the Home nations park and pipe academy was just as sick if not better than the first week, I got my double 10’s on lock in a slopestyle run with both way spins and learnt some switch 10’s. The final day I built up the courage to try the switch double once more and stomped it to my feet at 9! Stoked!! Although didn’t get any footage of it!Image

All in all my 2013/14 season was a short one with exams involved but also an insane one with a lot of progression, scottish skiing and an exciting British freeskiing project on the way, watch this space!

Already starting to plan my 2014/15 season, and with school out the way it’s looking big!Image

Dub 10 in Tux

2 clips of my double cork 1080 in Hintertux in October

2 weeks in Tux

The last two weeks in October I was out in Hintertux, Austria with the GB junior team. Tux is one of the best parks at this time of year so it was so sick! The jumps were really smooth and I got straight into my training.Image

In the first few days I worked on some cork 9 tails on the proline and some rodeos and cork 7’s setting up for dubs.

The next few days after that weren’t the best weather but we made the most of it by hitting the sick rails out there and practicing rightside on the medium line.

The first weekend we had skiing the weather was so good, bluebird all day on saturday. After setting up for a double rodeo 9 all week I decided it I might aswell go for it. It did not end well though! I opened out during after going round once and span the rest of the way to my head! Only got a minor concussion thanks to my Sweet Protection helmet.

After that I took a days rest but then was straight back on it! I worked on some switch 9’s and towards the end of the day when the shade was coming in I decided I should try some dub cork 10’s with Tyler Harding! I landed 2 out of 3 that day and was so stoked! First time i’d done them since i learnt them in 2012. Check out my instavideo of it on my facebook or instagram.

The last week the weather turned out super good most days and I was throwing more dub 10’s and switch 7’s and 9’s on the proline trying to work on my slopestyle run. Everyone killed it in the last week with most people landing doubles!

The Mayrhofen valley was a sick place for downdays too which was good. We did a lot of skating, trampolining, bridge jumping and football.
One day we went to Innsbruck for a skate and checked out the ski jump at the same time which was cool and had some sweet views from the top:

All in all Hintertux was such a good trip and totally worth it! There will be an edit and some pictures coming soon.

A few clips showing what I got up to in my 2012/13 season

Season 2012/13

This season there has been a lot of ups and downs for me due to tendon and ligament damage in both my knees after a powder trip to Flachauwinkl, Austria in February. Lets just say riding waist deep powder in centre mounted park skis isn’t the best for knees!

After that I made a lot of trips to the physio and took few weeks rest. When they began to feel better I went to Meribel with the GB junior freeski team as a pre-British championships camp. Meribel had such a sick park with a pro line of 3 booters, which was perfect practice for slopestyle. There, I worked on my switch off big kickers for the first time, and by the end of the week got down switch 9 mutes and span two switch 10 mutes which you can see in my edit.

Rodeo 540 safety in Zermatt

This Summer, I went to to Cervinia/Zermatt with the gb junior freeski team again where we had a sick park and sunny weather for 2 weeks! The rails there were insane and the laptime was so short we got so many hits. I did an 810 and a misty 450 japan off the canon rail. On the jumps i worked on unnatural cork 7’s and got the feel for more double cork 10’s which you can see also in my edit.

Go check out my BGS/season edit and give it a share or a like!
